The wondering mind

For some reason meditation is often thought of as a state of mind with no thoughts.
Reality is that thoughts come and go.
Once you become aware of this natural state of thoughts and feelings and other sensations popping up in your field of consciousness you stop to criticise yourself of these thoughts. Actually, the critic is also just a thought.
Practising mindfulness is to become present, to be aware, to pay attention. 
The thoughts are there, in your mind, they come and they go. Just pay attention and notice how the thought vanishes. It comes seemingly out of nothing and it vanishes again seemingly into nothing.
This is ok, this is the nature of the mind.
Be patient. Just pay attention. Be present with whatever is there.
