Last week we were looking into the witness function.
the witness is neutral, it is not judging. The witness (or the awareness itself ) is merely being aware, and it is awake from the minut you one your eyes and until you fall asleep again. But often, we are not aware of this neutral, non judging function of the mind. Often we are unconscious about it.
So you can be very happy about something. The awareness of being happy is neutral.
You can also be very upset about something. The awareness of being upset is neutral.
The purpose of the basic meditation is to slowly become more and more aware of the neutrality, the non judgemental function of the mind. It is there all the time.
And the more you become aware, the more your witness function becomes conscious, the more easy it is for you to become less attached to your thoughts and emotions. The are there, all the thoughts and emotions, and at the same time the witness is witnessing everything that goes on in your mind – and the witness is neutral, it is not judging.
So whatever is pleasant is pleasant. And whatever is unpleasant is unpleasant. It is as it is. You are as you are. A rose is a rose.
